My Father's Picture

My Father's Picture logo

This voluntary project came to my attention via Gumtree. The client, Alan Amin director of the Kurdish Creatvie Film Centre, required a promotional website for his film 'My Father's Picture'. This project was unique as it was going to be published in Kurdish as well as English. Like all film websites, Alan required the film synopsis, trailer and a gallery on the website. I was given freedom over the design, but Alan wanted different backgrounds on each page.

In addition, Alan wanted to be able to edit the website in both English, and Kurdish. This was done via Surreal CMS. I used XML for the galleries.

Alan was that impressed with my work, he has offered me more work in the future.

Programs used: Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks
Languages used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, XML

This website went live in June 2009.

This is another project that came to my attention via Gumtree. The client required a website that would show their graphic and illustration skills. The domain name was already owned by the client and was being directed to a blog. The client had hand drawn the home page of the website. I used this as a template for the website. Then all I had to do was add the content. Also, a shop was required for the client to sell items. This was done via PayPal. When the user wishes to purchase an item, they are taken to a external PayPal website.

She also wanted to have two galleries on the website. These galleries would need to be updated without FTP and coding. I was able to do this by integrating a Flickr applet into the website.

The website went live March 2010.

Programs used: Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver
Languages used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript

Jay Mistry Architecture

This particular client required a portfolio website that showed off their architecture work. The website had already been designed, and I was required to convert it from a Photoshop file to be ready for the internet. This required slicing the images from the PSD file, then using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript to implement the website. There was constant contact between myself and the client during the construction stage. Using Adobe Flash, I created a slideshow for the home page.

The website went live January 2010.

Programs used: Adobe Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver
Languages used: XHTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript

Youth Discovery Ventures

This project came to my attention via Manchester Student Volunteers. The client required a website that was simple, and allowed her to edit the pages with ease, as she had no programming experience.

Version 1

The website was created in CSS stylesheets, XHTML and using div tags, rather than using a table base. Adobe Dreamweaver was used to develop the website, while Adobe Flash was used to create the animated banner on the home page.Lightbox 2 was used on the multimedia page to add a different dimension to the user's image viewing experience.

The website allows the client to edit the pages however they wish. There is no FTP or coding involved. The client simply logs in to the Adobe InContext Editing section by pressing CTRL + E on the keyboard, and loggging in, to edit the page that they wish to edit.

The client also wished that any e-mail that was associated with this website, be online based, and allow her to add and remove any e-mail addresses as she wished. This was done using Google mail.

Version 2

In May 2010, Youth Discovery Ventures approcahed me again. They had a new look designed by Ben Tallon, and wished for the website to reflect this. I was given a rough idea of how the website was to look, but was given freedom when it came to the design. At this time, I was employed and had to do the website in my spare time. This was the first time I was working with a designer, who wasn't chosen by me. Everything else about the website was going to remain the same.

Klea Online

During my time employed by Klea Online, I was asked to design various pieces of stationary. These designs had to stay with the style that Klea already possessed.

During Christmas 2009, I was asked to create a HTML e-mail that would be sent to all the customers that had signed up to the mailing list. This, and all the above can be viewed by clicking 'view images' below.

University of Huddersfield Online Video Website

This website was done for my final year project while at university. The task was to answer the question "What is the best way to attract students to higher education, using modern day technologies?" Through research it was found that the best way would be to do an online video website.
